Evan Mix is an artist that NEEDS to be in your rotation. The rising pop-singer is raw, personable, and he has a sound that evokes true emotions out of his listeners. Since catching my attention with his 2021 album “Yarnpall”, I made sure to keep a close eye on the burgeoning star. There is just something so pure about him that I seem to connect with. Now, he enters our pages with his latest album “Glare Cursed”, and it might be the album of the year.

“Glare Cursed” is an 8-track masterpiece that was written & composed by Evan Mix. From start to finish, I was absolutely hooked. The sonics were exceptional, and I loved the instrumentation. “Glare Cursed” is an avant-garde pop listening experience that you won’t want to end. The project is infectious and there is a record for everyone on this. Whether you are looking for something more nostalgic or a funky sound, this album checks all the boxes. When it comes to an album, I feel that it’s an artist’s job to ensure they bring introspective records, optimistic records, and nostalgic records to the table. Mix did that! With an ensemble of supporting cast that included Millicent Chimonyo-Ntubi, Anabell Jasni, Josselin Leiros, Valentina Jazz, Tymon Trbczyski, Rafael Freitas, Ryuki Naito, Brandon Meeks, Bruno Dela Rosa, Lone Feathers, Bankole K, & Sandy Beales, the album stands as a timeless masterpiece. Collaboration provides a beautiful feel to music, and it allows ideas to flourish. With the exceptional mix & mastering from Alex Reverberi, “Glare Cursed” has a full sound that will have you coming back for more.

My favorite songs were “The Descending of Remains”, “Alyosha Left”, & “Jerk and Jerk”. “The Descending of Remains” has an upbeat optimistic feel that I truly love. This is a perfect song for a sunny Sunday morning. When it comes to album intro’s, this was flawless. “Alyosha Left” is a more introspective song with a late-night funky feel that is laced with deeper lyricism. My personal favorite was “Jerk and Jerk”. This is the most infectious song on the album. From the vocal delivery to the production, this song has that “IT” factor. Overall, this is one of my favorite albums of the year so stream it below!
