When it comes to music, we as listeners yearn for artists that continue to push the boundaries with their craft. We crave for musical pioneers, and we ask that our favorites stay true to the craft. This relationship that artists & their listeners cultivate is something that can’t be overlooked. As a listener myself, I find it harder & harder to find artists making music for the right reasons. However, I recently discovered an artist named Omni James, and he is one my favorite finds this month.

Omni James is an emerging artist that can’t be put in a box. With the name “omni” meaning “of all things”, the multifaceted and versatile artist does it all. He is a writer, producer, and artist all in in one. Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest EP “Afrodite”.

“Afrodite” is a simple love story that we all NEED to listen to. The 5-track masterpiece blends elements of modern R&B, Hip-Hop, & Afrobeats into one captivating sound. In my opinion, I found the overall sonics and songwriting to be very refreshing. It was a perfect change of pace compared to most of the music being released today. Although his vocals are only on 3 of the 5 songs, this EP shows his ability as a producer & storyteller. Each record is crafted with precision and you can tell his attention to detail from the song structure, sonic movement, and the transitions in the 5 records.

My favorite songs were “Meet You” & “Paint You”. “Meet You” is a dynamic record laced with engaging synths, captivating vocal delivery, and it has a confidence that will get you hooked from when you press play. “Paint You” is a cool & sensual track that captures the vibe of devotion and admiration. The vocals from Wendy Kay were otherworldly. Overall, this has been one of the most moving projects I have heard this year. From the production to the vocals, Afrodite stands on its own. Stream the album below and vibe out!
