Clay Orange Shines On His Album “Deeply”

Over the last few years, we have seen a shift in the music industry. With algorithms and streaming services, I have felt like it has become harder & harder to find genre-defying artists that are pioneering the next generation. However, I recently came across an artist that has all the qualities to become a burgeoning star. His name is Clay Orange.

Hailing from Canada, Clay Orange is the artistic pseudonym of singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Ross Macnab. Blending elements of folk, indie, soul, & alternative, Clay Orange has a sound that is rich with captivating elements. His songs evoke raw emotions, and his songwriting is exceptional. Now, he debuts on our pages with his latest album ‘Deeply”.

“Deeply” is a 9-track masterpiece that reflects on the experiences and lessons that shape us as human beings. Over the project’s duration, he examines time, the mysteries of our subconscious, and he discusses the fears of losing everything. For me, this project is Clay Orange’s magnum opus. His ability to express raw emotions and be vulnerable allows his exploration of deeper themes more relatable.

My favorite song from the album was “Afraid To Lose”. “Afraid To Lose” is a captivating record laced with lush guitar melodies, raspy vocals, and I loved the warmth of the song. When I listen to the song, it takes me back to high school parties around a fire in the woods. The feeling of being content in the moment is the emotion this song brings me. If I could recommend one song to anyone wanting to know how talented Clay Orange is, I would recommend this record. Overall, this is one of my favorite albums of the year.

In addition to the album, Clay Orange also released a “Digital Vinyl Experience” for his fans.

“Essentially, it’s a package you can download with notes, lyrics, visuals, links etc. that pieces the whole project together and gives you something to sift through while listening to the album. Something that I think the whole streaming industry lacks severely - the cohesive, intimate experience and nature of an album, which is a huge part of why vinyl feels so much more special. If you purchase the album on my Bandcamp for $10 (or more if you’re feeling generous) you will get a free download of the Deeply Digital Vinyl Experience.” – Clay Orange
