Under the thousands of songs & artists I listen to on a daily basis, it is often hard finding generational talents that I believe will stand the test of time. However, from time to time, I come across an artist or song that really hits me. This week I was impressed when I came across Helia Tatla.

Helia Tatla is a dynamic music collaboration made up of French singer and musician Leah Attali and NYC guitarist and songwriter Geoff Bradford. Although this is their first release together, both artists bring their own talents to the table. Geoff has garnered national attention with his last album “The Voyage Out” that was released in 2023. Leah has also had a budding career with her own release of singles. After meeting through a mutual friend, the two hitmakers have come together and released their self-entitled project “Helia Tatla”.

The self-titled EP is a 4-track masterpiece that is carried by songs that are laced with lush melodies, engaging sonics, and some of the best vocal delivery I have heard this year. In my opinion, the EP is timeless. The rawness and relatability in each record is captivating, and I haven’t connected with a project like this in years.

Although the runtime is short due to it being an EP, Helia Tatla live up to expectations. When it comes to crafting projects, some artists/bands need 10-20 tracks to fully deliver an idea. Helia Tatla only needed 4 songs. My favorite songs “Servant’s Heart” & “Caught Up”. Leah’s vocals are exceptional and each not that she sings is intoxicating. On “Servant’s Heart”. Leah’s romanticizing storytelling shines over the laidback folk production that compliments her vocals. “Caught Up” is laced with piano-led sonics that offer a cinematic touch that allows the raw songwriting and vocals to land in the hearts of their listeners. Overall, this is a very special project that I hope all that listen appreciate. If you are a fan of transformative music, then this project is for you!
